Hypocrites in the News

You can’t get more hypocritical than Rep. Trent Franks, who votes to limit Americas’ access to court every chance he gets, but has no qualms against using the courts when it is in his political interest. Now, he’s threatening to sue the Obama Administration over the Affordable Care Act and a host of other issues.

This is just another example of do as I say, not as I sue.  In addition to Rep. Franks, another story has been released about the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the grandfather of lawsuit hypocrisy, on its continued mission to limit legal accountability for its corporate financers while using the courts as they see fit.  In fact, Tom Donohue, the president of the U.S. Chamber, said it’s increasing its legal office:

Donohue also pledged to mount legal challenges against regulations seen as exceeding the authority of the executive branch.

He said the Chamber is on pace to file more than 100 such lawsuits this year, and is beefing up its legal office while bringing in an economist specializing in regulation.
